"Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes" Dominates the US Box Office, Securing a $22 Million Debut
- 11/05/2024
With a mere trio of movies breaching the $500 million mark at the global box office in 2024, including "Kung Fu Panda 4," "Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire," and "Dune: Part Two," the year has experienced a scarcity of high-profile cinematic successes. However, the tide may be turning as "Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes" is performing exceptionally well in domestic theaters.
This latest addition to the famed series amassed an impressive $22.2 million in box office revenue during its opening day, showing in 4,075 cinemas. Of this sum, $6.6 million was generated from Thursday night previews. Projections estimate the film's opening weekend haul to reach between $52 million and $56 million, which, according to Variety reports, aligns with the performance of the series' previous installments.
From a critical standpoint, the film is also receiving favorable appraisals. It currently holds a commendable 7.4/10 rating on IMDb, and on Rotten Tomatoes, it boasts a solid approval rating of 80%.
