First Glimpse of BioShock 4 Leaked in Early Gameplay Screenshot

A newly leaked screenshot has provided what could be our first glimpse at the highly anticipated BioShock 4, marking a significant milestone since the game's announcement. The screenshot surfaced online and was initially spotted by MP1st, igniting excitement among fans. It seems to give a clear look at developer Cloud Chamber's upcoming project, known under the codename Parkside, in the iconic BioShock series.

The reported screenshot comes from an early demo build featured in a 2021 showcase reel. It reveals a simplified HUD, including an ability wheel positioned at the bottom left corner, with LB and RB icons indicating specific actions. Based on their designs, it appears there may be powers associated with magnetism and lighting, alongside a compass mechanic.

Additionally, the HUD displays a health bar and a secondary bar that likely represents a Plasmid, Vigor, or some other form of power. There's also an icon resembling a sand timer, which might be related to a time-based ability for the player. Notably, the weapon in the bottom right corner is identified as a "Ricochet Shotgun," featuring blue glowing elements.

The rest of the visual elements in the screenshot are less distinct, but a prominent, glowing structure or tower with a statue of the sun can be observed. This element draws parallels to the lighthouses from the opening scenes of the earlier BioShock games, which play pivotal roles in their prologues and serve as key locations for the player.

Since BioShock 4 is still under active development, it's expected that many of the assets shown are works-in-progress with possible changes before the game's full reveal. Cloud Chamber recently indicated that development is "ramping up" following the release of new job listings, but no official release date has been announced yet.
