Astro Bot-Themed DualSense Controller Launches with Upcoming PS5 Exclusive Game

The unveiling of a fresh special edition DualSense Wireless Controller has sparked enthusiasm among PS5 enthusiasts and collectors. According to a PlayStation Blog post, the Team Asobi studio head, Nicolas Doucet, provided the first official look at this new gamepad. He detailed the artistic elements and design choices that went into creating this unique edition. Fans who have followed Astro Bot from the beginning may recognize the controller's design from the game's initial reveal trailer.

The controller embraces the familiar blue accents characteristic of Astro, adorning the handles and buttons. It showcases sophisticated, sci-fi-inspired engravings, along with the distinctive pair of playful eyes positioned on the touchpad. Doucet expressed immense satisfaction with the final product, emphasizing the controller's artful quality and the team's happiness with the results.

Pre-orders for the Astro Bot limited edition DualSense controller will launch on August 9, with its release scheduled for September 6, coinciding with the launch of the Astro Bot game. This specially designed controller will be available via PlayStation Direct and select retailers, priced at $79.99 in the US and £69.99 in the UK. Interestingly, this price point is $5 less than that of the recently announced limited edition Concord DualSense Wireless Controller. In visual appeal alone, the Astro Bot controller seems to have the upper hand.

Astro Bot is a PS5-exclusive platformer set to debut on September 6. Building on the foundation set by Astro's Playroom, the new game will fully leverage the sophisticated capabilities of the DualSense controller, including tactile sensations and dynamic resistance mechanisms, to provide an engaging and interactive gameplay adventure.
