The Most Searched Games Ever Revealed: Fortnite, Pokémon
- 21/03/2022
What games do users search for the most often in different countries? The research conducted by Student Beans shows there is a bunch of undisputed leaders both in the overall rally and in certain social environments. It resulted in the Top 10 of the most popular games in the world by various metrics.
The researchers took into consideration a bunch of factors. Along with mentions on Twitter, streams on Twitch, Reddit followers, YouTube, and Google search, the study considers the total revenue of the game. The results differ by any of these factors considered separately, but they allow the researchers to rank the most popular games overall.
The results were anything but overwhelming. No wonder the most popular game of our time is Fortnite – a pop icon of games, due to its cultural impact and insatiable wish for collaborations. It is followed by the Pokémon franchise, and then Minecraft, League of Legends, PUBG, Call of Duty, Roblox, FIFA, Halo, and Overwatch.
It’s interesting that Roblox which occupies the seventh position in the overall rating is the undisputable leader when it comes to global search. The explanation may lie in the fact that Roblox is more than a game: it’s a platform with numerous features many of which indeed require more help and guidance.
When it comes to the yearly revenue, though, Roblox can only show a rather modest $1.7 billion, while Minecraft has a solid $3.6 billion, and Fortnite outdoes it with $15.9B. The Pokémon franchise with its $100 billion outruns all the rivals combined, but this franchise includes quite a number of games, plus other production like anime series, movies, and trading cards.
Which games did you expect to see on this list but didn’t? Did any of them come as a surprise? And which of these games is your favorite? Share your impressions with us in the comments!
