Princess Zelda Takes the Lead in The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom, Debuting This September

Nintendo has unveiled The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom, marking the first time in 38 years that Zelda herself takes on the role of the hero, with visuals akin to the Link's Awakening remake.

The newest installment, The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom, features Princess Zelda as the sole playable character and is set for release this year on September 26. This unexpected addition to the franchise spotlights Zelda with a completely fresh set of abilities.

Zelda's gameplay centers around 'Echoes,' which are essentially duplicates of items. Once Zelda masters an item's Echo, she can materialize it using her Tri Rod, employing it to tackle various challenges, including puzzles and combat encounters.

An example presented in the Echoes of Wisdom announcement depicted Zelda encountering an enormous boulder obstructing her path. By utilizing the Echo ability, she can summon tables to climb over the rock. This innovative approach brings a new twist to a series traditionally focused on item-based progression.

Instead of wielding a sword like Link, Zelda must employ creative solutions. In one trailer scenario, she devises a scheme to lure birds with food, then traps them upon their arrival, showcasing the strategic depth of her abilities in Echoes of Wisdom.

This new entry returns to the art style seen in the Link's Awakening remake. Notably, this remake was developed by third-party studio Grezzo rather than Nintendo, making the choice to maintain this visual style particularly intriguing for the upcoming game.
