A sequel to the blockbuster showdown between Godzilla and King Kong has been officially announced as currently in development

It has been verified that a sequel to Godzilla x Kong is currently underway. The Hollywood Reporter recently highlighted that Dave Callaham, the scriptwriter behind Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, has agreed to craft the script for the upcoming film.

According to the publication, Callaham is no stranger to the Godzilla series, having penned preliminary versions for the 2014 installment of Godzilla and earning a narrative credit for his contributions.

Given the financial success of Godzilla x Kong, which brought in an impressive $548,395,543, the news of a sequel isn't particularly shocking. This places it as the second top-earning movie of 2024, just trailing behind Dune: Part Two, which garnered a remarkable $708,703,191.
