Top 3 Best Visual Novels to Get Your Heart Racing
- 03/04/2021
I am a big fan of visual novels and anime since my early teens. They have become very popular in the last few years, with increasingly better stories and visuals.
Visual novels are games, just like any other game are also fun to play. But that is not the only thing they do. They tell a story, they tell it with pictures, text and sound. And not only that, they tell it in a way that only a game can.
There are many visual novels out there, and they all have different stories and different characters. So which ones are the best ones? This is a list of the best and most popular visual novels.
Steins;Gate
Steins;Gate is an original anime adaptation, but even if you haven't seen the anime (which I recommend), the VN is really enjoyable. This was a tough one, as I had to choose between Steins;Gate and Kanon (2006). There are a few VNs that I actually like and I would say that they are both very good.
Steins;Gate is a visual novel that tells the story of Okabe Rintarou, a self-proclaimed mad scientist, who along with his friends, invents and explores the possibility of changing the past.
Steins;Gate is a visual novel. The gameplay involves the player reading the game's story, and collecting and viewing images and character profiles. The player is occasionally presented with choices to determine the direction of the game.
The story is divided into different branches, and the player advances through the story by following only one branch, leading to different endings.
Clannad
Clannad is a visual novel by the creators of Air and Kanon. This is the story of Tomoya Okazaki, a third-year high school student who hates himself and his life. His mother passed away from a car accident when he was younger, causing his father to resort to alcohol and gambling. This results in fights between the two until Tomoya's shoulder is injured in a fight.
Since then, Tomoya has had distant relationships with his father, causing him to become a delinquent over time. While on a walk to school, he meets a strange girl named Nagisa Furukawa who is a year older but is repeating due to illness.
Due to this, she is often alone as most of her friends have moved on. The two begin hanging out and slowly, as time goes on, Tomoya finds his life shifting in a new direction.
This game is only for people who like drama. Although it's not the best VN, it's definitely the most popular one, and if you like drama, you should definitely give it a try.
Saya no Uta
This is one of the most underrated VNs out there. It's also a horror story, and it's really good. It's a must-read for all VN enthusiasts.
Saya no Uta game has a simple but very interesting and exciting plot. You'll play as a character who just moved to a new house and started working at a nearby hospital. The first day at work is the most important and the most exciting day in your life. This is the day you've waited for so long to begin your life as a real doctor. But what will happen if you have to face a very unique patient and to find out the truth about human nature? You'll know this very soon.
Post-Scriptum
This list is only my opinion. As such, it is completely subjective and biased. If you have a problem with any of the games on this list, feel free to voice your opinion in the comments.
